I think it is fair to say that I love painting and creating new and exciting ideas. I’ve been interested in creating art for as long as I can remember, being fascinated initially by the way light, shadow, colour, depth and perspective behave. I find such emotional engagement in these and how they can affect a scene.
I’ve been a professional artist in one form or another for over 20 years now, starting at 17, now working mostly as a Conceptual Artist and Art Director - but it was not until about a decade ago that I decided to diversify my passion for painting in a direction more personal to me. I started doodling space and sci-fi images while having a little down time between projects, being fascinated with what might be “out there” it made it easy for me to paint this stuff up. This lead to me wanting to expose my work in a web galley. My personal art found a whole new list of friends and I really enjoy creating it when I have time.
I now balance my time between any full time commitments, my family and and my personal art. Recently I have finished a book:
covering some of the techniques I employ while painting digitally. Along with my Art Direction and conceptual work I am still very driven to keep painting new and interesting visualisations and I still feel very fortunate that my passion for painting has found me a totally new direction as an artist.
I have worked for a number of Games Development studios, Book Publishers, schools and charities, offering my personal art for free to non-profit projects and good causes. I work in various roles and create art to help and inspire people. In the last 9 years I have worked as a concept artist, Illustration and Art Director as my day job.
